Tim Doubinski is a composer, conductor, arranger, and guitarist based in Sydney, Australia.
Currently completing his final year of study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Carl Vine AO, Tim’s music has already been performed and recorded by ensembles in the Australian Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra, and Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and New Music Ensemble. Premieres in 2025 include a Don’t Drag for string orchestra with the Saga Collective, and He Lies, He Sleeps brass quartet in Budapest as part of the Bartok International Project, in a collaboration between the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and Sydney Conservatorium. In 2024, Tim was a part of the Australian Youth Orchestra Composition Program, mentored by Lachlan Skipworth. In 2023, Tim won the Watermark Composition Prize as part of the Kendall National Violin Competition for his solo violin sonata. 2023 also saw his work for brass septet, Chasms, tour to China with the Sydney Conservatorium.
Tim is also a conductor, currently studying privately with Fabian Russell. Tim founded Caesura Ensemble in 2024: an orchestra committed to championing young Australian composers and performers in unique and immersive performances. Caesura Ensemble has won several rounds of funding from the City of Sydney and Talent Development Project. Tim has also served as an assistant conductor for ensembles including The Orchestra Project, Ensemble Apex, Western Sydney Philharmonic, and the Modest Orchestra. In 2024, Tim travelled to Vienna to be a part of the Vienna Opera Academy, having the chance to work closely with Toby Purser, and Daniel Hoyem-Cavazza.
Tim is also an active arranger and composer for film, having worked on productions such as NSW Schools Spectacular. He scored his first pilot season of a TV show in 2021 (Hartley), and his first feature film (Alakai) in 2022.
